Mohammed YACOUBI KHEBIZA is a Professor at the University of Marrakesh with a Phd in the Ecology and groundwater quality, senior researcher on groundwater/surface water and climate change specifically on assessing impact adaptation to climate change in various land uses in Morocco.
He will evaluate the impacts of climate change and climate variability on Moroccan waters ecosystems in selected sites and help in developing and test a set of methods for the assessment of vulnerability of relevant development topics resulting from impacts of climate change over waters ecosystems and implement of the methodology to assess vulnerability on the development topics. The works concern:
- Assess goods and services from ecosystems in relation to climate change and climate variability
- Develop climate scenarios
- Apply the methods: assessment of vulnerability of the study areas
- Assess costs
- Develop vulnerability maps and extrapolate results
He will also initiate a science-policy dialogue in and across the pilot regions to test the practicality of the developed methods, to disseminate practical and useful information on reducing vulnerability through adaptive forest management, and to build capacity in developing countries through training sessions
